Medium section mill, Hyundai Steel (South Korea)

A modernization of existing semi-continuous light and medium section mill became necessary to enable the plant to meet the today’s requirements – in particular the high quality and precision bar demands of Hyundai Motor.

Included among the core components of the integrated plant are:

• New HCS^® finishing stand group consisting of two two-high convertible mill stands with strengthened new drive train and two universal two- high stands
• a PROgauge profile measuring system and SurfTec surface defect detection system
• Sizing by means of Hydraulic Size Control (HSC)

Advantages:

• Revamp within four weeks shutdown
• Cost benefits due to retained old equipment, foundations, cranes, etc.
• Round bars dia. 60 – 120mm now are rolled with an improved dimensional accuracy (high precision bars)
• Tolerances on the finished products of ¼ of the Japanese JIS standard
