History
SMS Metallurgy Polska is an integral part of the global SMS group. Its inception dates back to 2007, when it was established in the bustling industrial city of Chorzów.
The subsidiary's origins can be traced back to a visionary group of high-tech engineers and managers who aspired to pioneer something extraordinary in the field of metal processing. Initially, it comprised only a small team of individuals. As time passed, the company experienced significant growth and development, progressively expanding its products and services. In 2013, a pivotal decision was made to establish the first Shared Service Center (SSC) in the field of accounting, which marked the beginning of other specialised departments. During this transformative period, the company relocated also its headquarters to Katowice, the heart of the Upper Silesian region.
Our story is one of perseverance, passion and determination to excel. We are proud of what we have achieved and remain prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

Our company
SMS Metallurgy Polska supports the global acitivities of SMS group in a number of activities related to sales, purchasing, and logistics. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the provision of high-quality services such as quality and documentation control, master data management, export control and environmental compliance. Furthermore, we are in a state of dynamic growth of our HR, finance, and IT departments.
However, our contribution goes beyond these essential functions. Within SMS Metallurgy Polska, we are actively engaged in pioneering innovative solutions in areas such as intelligent process automation, Augmented Reality (AR), and industrial automation.

Our company has an independent human resources department which is responsible for monitoring employee travel expenses and coordinating training programmes in Germany. Members of the HR department are responsible for preparing the relevant travel documentation and monitoring and managing the associated travel costs. As part of our commitment to the professional development of our employees, the HR department organises training courses in Germany to ensure that our employees have access to up-to-date tools, knowledge and expertise.

The Master data department plays a critical role within any organization, ensuring data accuracy and quality. Its primary objective is to uphold the precision, uniformity, and integrity of key information, thereby preventing errors, duplicates and disorder within the organization. The department is responsible for managing master data and export data such as materials and products depending on the location. In addition, the department is responsible for compliance and monitoring of the environmental regulations included in material compliance. An integral part of material compliance is the maintenance of safety data sheets, which contain relevant product information such as chemical composition, physical properties, safety requirements, industry standards and other relevant data.
With the master data team in place, decisions can be made based on robust data, allowing the business to grow and prosper effectively.

The finance department is vital for managing accounts payable and receivable, along with overseeing the company's treasury functions. As the heart of our organisation, this department ensures that the financial stability is maintained.
Accounts receivable ensures the efficient management and regulation of customer receivables, closely monitoring payment terms. In turn, the accounts payable ensures timely and accurate payments to creditors, thus maintaining the company's good reputation with suppliers and investors.

The sales department handles a day-to-day servicing, as well as takes care of liaison, with Polish customers in terms of both OEM and technical service within the functional setup of sales region Europe. Our goal is to help identify customer needs and make sure that those are met, considering the best interest of SMS group.
We support customers and SMS group’s centers of competence throughout the project’s lifetime - from enquiry up to FAC, partaking in technical discussions, commercial negotiations, etc. and follow it up by proactive after-sales service and assistance in resolving various types of eventual problems.

IQ provides a comprehensive array of IT support and services, addressing various aspects of IT infrastructure and operations. The IT Support division delivers Level 1 and Level 2 support to various entities within the SMS Group. In the realm of IT Security, the team is responsible for rolling out global training and awareness initiatives, as well as monitoring security alerts and supporting internal IT security audits.
The division dedicated to Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) is focused on streamlining business processes through automation and integrating these enhanced processes into digital workflows.
Additionally, IQ excels in specialized domains such as project management, software development, and data services. The team oversees project execution, ensuring adherence to plant breakdown structures and customer relationship management (CRM) systems. The IQ team is also actively involved in the development of AI solutions and undertakes tasks related to SAP development.

Integrated Service Solutions, is the remedy for the technical challenges and problems faced by SMS group Customers throughout the entire lifetime of their technological installations:
- We modernize and keep customer’s installations operational as the lifetime of automation elements is significantly shorter than the heavy mechanics of our machines and devices
- We modify control algorithms to optimize production processes, so our clients can achieve production increases and/or quality improvements
- We support the development and implementation of master controls and process models
- We provide local and remote support to customers in troubleshooting, also on a 24/7 basis as part of long-term service contracts
- We run service projects, such as major upgrades or extensions
- We participate at SMS group product development projects, both in software and hardware by supplementing them with automation elements
- We closely cooperate with the sales team preparing offers for our services and products
- We supply electrical and automation parts and components for the tasks at hand or according to client demand
