SIMEC’s 4th rebar rolling mill will again be supplied by SMS group

The new rolling mill will enable Grupo SIMEC to expand its product portfolio to include rebar, smooth rounds, squares, and wire rods, offering competitive advantages in their market.
SMS group's scope comprises the design of the complete rebar rolling mill, including the supply of mechanical and electrical equipment. The delivery includes a pusher-type furnace with a capacity of 100 t/h for 127 mm and 140 mm square billets with a length of 12 m. In this context, Grupo SIMEC will be provided with the highest thermal efficiency in the reheating furnace areas of rolling mills.
Fast production output and capacity are further guaranteed by SMS group's HSD® (High Speed Delivery) system, which is installed at the cooling bed entry side. The system is equipped with a double rotary channel that can process rebars with a nominal production speed of 38 m/s.
A fully automated bundle forming and tying station allows the rebar produced to be prepared for further transportation to the end consumer. The entire plant is controlled by SMS group automation, including levels 1 and 2, which are connected to the X-Pact® Prometheus automation system for the reheating furnace. The X-Pact® Prometheus makes it possible to reach the desired temperature profile in the reheating furnace area to enable uniformity for any given stock and steel grade with the minimum fuel consumption, decarburization, and scale losses.
