Further important milestone in the long-standing relationship between SAIL and SMS group
On October 3, 2023, Sail Bokaro Steel Plant has signed a new contract with SMS group for the revamping of old subsystems of blast furnace #3 in Bokaro, Jharkhand (India)
Thanks to the high performance of Paul Wurth hot blast stoves with improved design of ceramic burner and high efficiency checkers, SAIL will improve the key operating parameters of the plant such as hot blast temperature and top pressure operation, thus restoring the nominal furnace productivity.
Among the key Paul Wurth technological features, blast furnace 3 in Bokaro will benefit from the new proven mushroom design of the hot blast stoves, the new two stage gas cleaning plant, the new skip bridge and the skip charging system.
This contract represents a further important milestone in the long-standing relationship between Sail and SMS group, which has already successfully executed other key projects for Bokaro Steel Plant, such as blast furnace 2 upgrade in 2010, blast furnace 2 gas cleaning plant in 2010 and blast furnace 1 upgrade of stoves in 2020.
The completion for this project is foreseen for July 2025.
