Tuflesa commissions us with the modernization of ERW line to improve their tubular solutions for the solar energy market

Tuflesa part of the Bornay Group, based in Murcia, Spain, has entrusted SMS group with the modernization of the forming section for its ERW line to improve the reliability of square and round tube production in critical areas of the product range. The main application for these high-end structural solutions from Tuflesa is the booming solar energy market, as well as for idler and conveyor sector.
The RD 220 ERW line commissioned in 1997 will be revamped after 25 years of service life. Together with Tuflesa, SMS group developed a tailor-made modernization concept consisting of new forming and welding equipment. Including the latest technology design standards for roll tooling based on FEA (finite elements analysis), to meet the customer’s demand for a reliable and steady production of critical dimensions and improve the material yield.
The main idea and purpose of the revamp are to be ready for the next 25 years providing construction tubes to serve the rising customer request in terms of quality and grades. The new equipment will be able to cover round tube production up to 240 mm diameter and improve Tuflesa’s production reliability in critical areas of the product range to meet the increasing demand for high-strength, thin-walled, ovality, straightness, round, square, and rectangular tubular solutions.
SMS group will supply the entire line from a single source. Commissioning by Tuflesa is scheduled for the end of August 2024.
