Henan Yirui enhances production capabilities with SMS group's advanced hot rolling mill
In November 2023, Henan Yirui New Material Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Henan Mingtai, successfully rolled the first aluminum coil on its new 1+4 hot strip mill, supplied by SMS group. This event occurred two months ahead of the planned schedule, underscoring the excellent collaboration between Henan Yirui and SMS group. The new hot mill is a key element in Henan Yirui's strategic expansion project at its Gongyi facility in Henan Province, China.
The project involved refurbishing and integrating components from a secondhand 1+1 hot rolling mill into a new 1+4 configuration. SMS group provided the mechanical equipment, fluid systems, and X-Pact® electrical and automation systems for the mill. Three new finishing mill stands were added, equipped with SMS group's cutting-edge CVC® technology for superior strip quality. The mill exit includes a side-trimming shear, down coiler, and an offline strip surface inspection station, enabling the production of aluminum strips up to 2,150 millimeters wide.
Key technological highlights of the new hot rolling mill include:
- Integration of secondhand equipment with new advanced components
- CVC® technology in three new finishing mill stands for high strip quality
- Level 2 process model X-Pact® Pass Schedule Calculation (PSC®) controls the re-used roughing mill and the new finishing mill, thereby creating a fully integrated 1+4 aluminum hot strip mill
- Side-trimming shear, down coiler unit, and offline strip inspection station for optimized mill exit
