SMS group successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a new roller table at Niche Fusina Rolled Products in Fusina, Italy. As a prominent aluminum producer, Niche Fusina undertook a significant and substantial improvement project at their Fusina Venice industrial site in January 2023, appointing SMS group for the task. The decision was influenced by SMS group's proven lifecycle partnership and competence in major improvement projects. In mid-December 2023, Niche Fusina, commenced one of the most extensive structural renovations in more than twenty years at the Fusina location. The diligent efforts of all parties involved allowed the project to conclude a week ahead of the initial timetable. Production resumed, and the commissioning phase was successfully finalized during the second week of January 2024. Subsequently, Niche Fusina granted the final acceptance certificate to SMS group.

The project involved replacing certain segments of the roller table, specifically 47 rollers, at the exit of the roughing mill stand. It also included various additional improvements to the aluminium hot rolling mill. The supply package provided by SMS group encompassed re-engineering the design of the existing roller table aiming to enhance its performance and reliability. As part of the project, a new square section tube was developed, ensuring they operate at optimal temperatures. To facilitate the on-site job, all necessary components for the 47 rollers were delivered. These components were meticulously assembled and aligned into six extended sections within the state-of-the-art Treviolo (BG) assembly workshop of SMS group.

Furthermore, SMS group provided expert supervision throughout the erection and commissioning phases of the project, ensuring a seamless integration of the new system into the existing infrastructure and a successful handover to Niche Fusina for resumption of their operations.
