ASAŞ Alüminyum has ordered two advanced aluminum extrusion lines from SMS group, including a 150 MN extrusion and tube line, Europe’s largest extrusion line, and a 45 MN HybrEx® line. The 150 MN line will enable ASAŞ to produce extra-large profiles for sectors like railway car manufacturing, expanding its market reach with innovative technology. The 45 MN HybrEx® line, equipped with an energy-efficient hybrid drive system, will increase production capacity for automotive components while achieving energy savings of 30 to 50 percent compared to traditional systems. Its operations are scheduled to commence in 2025.
The 150 MN extrusion line ordered by ASAŞ is designed to produce extra-large aluminum profiles. This capability enables ASAŞ to offer unique aluminum profiles that are currently unavailable in Europe, addressing the growing demand for specialized applications in industries such as railway and automotive manufacturing. The 150 MN extrusion line processes 18-inch or 24-inch aluminum billets and manufactures profiles with a maximum width of 900 millimeters and a height of up to 450 millimeters. Additionally, it allows the production of tubes with varying wall thicknesses, catering to diverse industrial needs.
Hydraulic forging press installation drives decarbonization and plant efficiency
The 45 MN HybrEx® line is equipped with an innovative hybrid drive system, it reduces energy consumption by 30% to 50% compared to conventional extrusion presses. Tailored for the automotive industry, this line produces lightweight yet robust profiles essential for components like battery housings and bumpers. The HybrEx® line is capable of producing profiles with a maximum width of 400 millimeters and a height of up to 280 millimeters.
OMAV, a company of SMS group, has set a new benchmark with the commissioning of the first fully electric high-speed convection furnace, now being installed at ASAŞ. With an 87% efficiency, the furnace significantly reduces its carbon footprint. The furnace offers unmatched flexibility, capable of operating as a stand-alone system or in combination with induction furnaces. This adaptability allows it to be tailored to specific customer requirements, ensuring optimal solutions for diverse applications.
