In the hot rolling process, the strip quality, especially in terms of profile and flatness, is influenced by many determining factors and can be affected by a variety of actuators. Please find below the main features and advantages of the technologies involved.
- CVC® plus technology: Our finishing mill stands are equipped with CVC® plus – the world’s most successful technology package for strip profile, contour, and flatness control. The system combines axial work roll shifting with special CVC® grinding, a work roll bending system, and our powerful technological process model X-Pact® Profile, Contour and Flatness (PCFC®).
- X-Pact® Profile, Contour and Flatness Control (PCFC®): Based on the pre-calculated values for roll force, thermal crown, work roll wear, and the mill stand deformation parameters, the X-Pact® PCFC® calculates the optimum work roll shifting position and bending force for each strip. In this way, the system adjusts the roll gap to the changing conditions resulting in extremely close strip tolerances.
- The new fixed block design of the bending and shifting system of CVC® plus for higher bending forces to enlarge the setting range of the X-Pact® Profile, Contour, and Flatness Control (PCFC®)
- Improved X-Roll® Interstand equipment for the different cooling, lubrication, and spraying functions as well as the fume exhaust system.
- Sieflex® HT gear-type drive spindle for high capacity and transmission of high rolling torques
- New edge masking, located in the laminar cooling area and prevents subcooling of the strip edges for improved strip flatness in cooling sections (especially for thin strips)
- X-Pact® Microstructure Property Model makes the online and offline calculation of mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation to fracture) and microstructure possible
- X-Pact® pass schedule calculation (PSC®) supports the development of new products
