Camber-free rolling
Better process stability and higher yield
Our roughing mill stands are designed to produce straight and camber-free transfer bars. That reduces rolling difficulties and cobble risks during finish rolling.
What happens when transfer bars camber due to temperature or geometrical wedges? You face rolling problems in the finishing mill and an increased likelihood of tail end breaks, for example.
This is where camber-free rolling comes in. It's based on the effective interplay between the heavy side guides in front and behind the roughing mill and the control system X-Pact® Camber Free Rolling in our automation system.
How it works:
- The slab contact with the strong, position-controlled side guides applies tension to the roll gap.
- The X-Pact® Camber Free Rolling keeps the rolls parallel and, together with the slab tension, ensures a transverse material flow in the roll gap.
The result:
- Wedge- and camber-free transfer bars
- Improved process stability and reduced cobbles in the finishing mill
- Increased yield by 0,5-3 %
