For many years, Düsseldorf-based company Schloemann was located in Steinstrasse in the city center. A lack of office space and outdated equipment and fittings in the SMS buildings in Düsseldorf's Steinstrasse meant that a new building was needed. January 11, 1985 saw the inauguration of the new building in Eduard-Schloemann-Strasse in Düsseltal. The new office building offered flexible workspace, future-oriented communication technology, and functional workstations. "A new home for new tasks", according to the title of a brochure published by SMS Schloemann-Siemag AG in 1985. In 2023, the 120-year history of the site will come to an end with the relocation to the new SMS group Campus in Mönchengladbach.
